Just for Laughs

Everyone needs a good laugh on a Tuesday morning, right? Well, here you go.

I woke up this morning at 12:30 and thought it was 5:30. So, like any normal morning I went and took a shower. Half way through the shower I realized the clock may have said 12 instead of 5. After finishing my shower I checked the clock and sure enough I had looked at it wrong - back to bed for me, wet head and all. Yes, I am that crazy. I haven't done this since high school (I did it once then).

Sold!

My grandmom's house is sold (well, pending the inspection) and it only took a week and a half!!! The Moe's, our real estate agents, are awesome. They sold our house in a week and a half, Brad's parents' house in a week, and now my granny's house in a week and a half. They actually got above the asking price; what a huge blessing!!

One Step at a Time

A new thing I would like to do with my blog is to write about songs that I really like/inspire me. I have added a playlist at the bottom so you can hear the songs I am talking about. So, this is the first song, "One Step at a Time", sung by Jordin Sparks. I heard this first in the commercials for "The Starter Wife". It was really catchy and then I started listening to the words.

The lyrics basically say we need to take life one step at a time - there's no need to rush - it's going to happen when it's supposed to happen and it is then that you find the reason why. I totally relate to this with things that are going on in our life. We have to take each moment one step at a time. We moved down here on a leap of faith and we are still learning why we are here. Little things have been revealed to us about why we are down here, but we definitely have to take it one step at a time.

I hope you enjoy the song and can relate to it as much as I can!

Kim is Back!

For all those 24 lovers out there I hope you got to watch last night's episode! Kim is back!! For those of you who do not know what 24 is, it is a TV show where each episode is an hour out of the day. The episodes are chronological, meaning this season we started at 8 am and next week's episode will be from 2am to 3am. Each season they address a different terrorist threat.

Anyway, Kim is Jack Bauer's (the main character) daughter. She was in seasons 1 - 3 but we haven't seen her since then (well, at least none that I can remember). Brad and I love Kim and hope Jack let's her take part in the experimental stem cell research that could save his life- sounds like a soap opera doesn't it!

Granny's Place

I was lucky enough to get to spend Sunday (a week ago) with my mom and some of my aunts and uncles. As many of you know, my Grandmom Lois passed away last August. Over the past few months her house has gone through a small facelift. The 40 year old carpet was replaced, fresh coats of paint were put on through out the house, and other small upgrades were made. The house looks great and I know my grandmother would be pleased with the work. The house has been listed and I hope it sells quickly and for what it is worth!

On the Road Again

Last weekend we were on the road again. This trip was to Huntsville again. The main reason for our visit was to go to a tool and gadget shower for Justin and Christina. This shower was special because it was given by the Wright's friends and family, plus the guest list mostly consisted of their friends and family. We had a great time visiting with everyone. It was kind of funny, since we knew most everyone Brad and I kind of split up and went our separate ways talking to everyone. At the end of the night we came back together and compared notes. Right before we left for the shower, Christina realized her camera battery was dead. So, I volunteered to take pictures with our camera. Between Brad's cousin, Leah, and myself, I think we did a good job taking over 50 pictures in 3 hours.

Freedom

Mandisa, from American Idol’s season 5, recently came out with a new album called “Freedom”. Brad and I have never watched American Idol, but Mandisa holds a special place in our hearts. The main reason is this CD; Track 11, “You Wouldn’t Cry (Andrew’s Song)” was written for our friends, Billy, Rebecca and their son, Andrew.

First, let me tell you how special Billy and Rebecca are to us. We met in our Marriage 101 class at Willowbrook Baptist. We sat next to each other and became friends instantly. Brad and Billy could always talk sports, specifically football, and Rebecca and I could talk about anything.

Back to the song...Rebecca has liked Mandisa since she first saw her on American Idol. Last May Rebecca was able to meet her at a concert right before she was scheduled to delivery their first baby, Andrew. Later that week Rebecca went in to what she thought was labor, only to find out that Andrew’s heart had stopped beating (this was 3 days before she was scheduled to be induced). Mandisa heard about this and wanted to put together a CD of songs to comfort Rebecca but she couldn’t find any songs from Heaven’s point of view – and so the song was written.

I found the excerpt below at http://www.gannsdeen.com/2009/03/31/mandisa-you-wouldnt-cry-andrews-song-will-touch-any-grieving-heart/ (isn’t google great!):

"You Wouldn’t Cry is a song that I co-wrote after having a relationship with a woman named Rebecca. Rebecca’s a fan that I met at one of my shows but before I even met her I was able to hear from a friend of hers that she was a big fan and that she was having her first baby and so when I met Rebecca and I was able to put my hands on her stomach and feel the child growing from within her, it just it made me feel connected to her. I have since sort of maintained a friendship with her. The sad news though is that she lost that child. She was scheduled to give birth to the child a week after I met her and three days after I met her the baby was born, stillborn, born early and died within the womb. And so I wrote a song called “You Wouldn’t Cry” that is from Andrew’s perspective, that’s what she named her child.

You Wouldn’t Cry basically is a song comforting his mom. It’s a song saying I know that this breaking your heart, the fact that you don’t have me here anymore but you should see where I am right now and it’s a song saying that this place Heaven that we are all promised to go to as believers, it is more beautiful than we could ever imagine. And shortly after we demoed this song Steven Curtis Chapman lost his daughter and I just feel like this song will minister to a lot of hearts, from people who have lost loved ones and you know there’s a lot of songs I’m excited about but I think this song in particular is one that moves me to my core because of the personal story that’s involved with it."

I believe you can listen to her new album at http://mandisa.sparrowrecords.com/music/?id=1037075 (you may have to search the page a little to figure it out) or you could buy the CD.

Rebecca and Billy are dear, dear friends and I do not believe what I have written explains their story fully. If you would like to know more, please let me know and I will be happy to share. On a fun note, today Billy and Rebecca are in Dallas, TX to listen to Mandisa sing "You Wouldn't Cry" live for the first time. Mandisa is doing a taping for a TV show. When I find out more info. about the TV show I’ll let you know!
