Mandisa Video

Back in January my friend, Rebecca, met with Mandisa to shoot a video about the song "You Wouldn't Cry" (the song Mandisa wrote in memory of Rebecca's son, Andrew). Check it out if you get a chance!

Fun in the Sun

The weatherman kept saying that last weekend was going to be the best weekend all year. Once I heard that I decided I needed to spend as much time outside as possible! I spent Friday afternoon lounging by the pool. It was great! I think I got my love for the pool from my mom. She taught me the fine art of reading by the pool and dipping in to cool off. I felt kind of bad though because Brad was at work. Luckily, he got off a little bit early and we got to enjoy some time on the back porch. Later that evening, Ella came over and we got to babysit. It was so much fun!! She only stayed a few hours but we had a great time swimming and watching cartoons. One funny thing, as she was getting ready to leave, she looked at me and said, “LeeAnn, you’re little”. It cracked me up because she is going to be taller than me within the year, so to her, I seem very small. She also told she thought I would be five on my birthday. That works for me. Oh, also, don't worry Jamie, we still want kids (she was afraid after watching Ella we may not want kids)!

Me and Ella swimming

Saturday, Matt, Jamie and Ella treated us to a day on the water. We took their boat down to Lulu’s for lunch. I had wondered what you wore to Lulu’s when coming off a boat in the summer. I took a normal swim cover up and hoped that would be ok. I was right; I think I saw more swimsuits than normal clothes. Get this - there was a wait at 1 pm at Lulu’s. That place is crazy busy. I can’t imagine what the wait is at dinner. On our way back we saw a family of porpoises. I think there were 5 or 6 in the group. I never would have thought that porpoises would be in the Mobile Bay.

Saturday evening we went to a coworker of Brad’s birthday party. Every year Allison has a crawfish boil in her backyard. We had a good time visiting with all the people from Brad’s work. I will have to say that we did not eat any crawfish. Neither of us really like to work for our food and I think the crawfish still had their heads. There was no way you were going to get me near that.

Our fun in the sun weekend was finished off Sunday with an afternoon by the pool. I think I could get used to being so close to water (the pool and the gulf) and this wonderful weather!

Backyard Visitor

Yesterday we had a bad backyard visitor - a snake!! It was a small snake, but a snake none the less. That slimmy critter slithered out when one of the sprinkler guys was moving a bush. Yuck, yuck, yuck!! Don't worry, it was killed right away.

I first saw it when I let the dogs out to go to the bathroom. I noticed they had dug out something that looked like a post and it had something that resembled a bungy cord wrapped around it. I could not decide if it was a bungy cord or a snake. I told myself it was a bungy cord because I didn't want to believe a snake was in our backyard.

Later, I saw the workers scooping up the post and "bungy cord" and decided to ask them if was a bungy cord or snake. Sure enough, it was snake! We had a good laugh about it and they removed it from our yard. They told me they called their boss and he asked what kind of snake it was. The worker replied, "I don't know but it's fixing to be a dead one!" That's my kind of thinking; sorry there is no picture, I just couldn't bring myself to go back out there and take a picture of a dead snake.

To understand this story completely you have to understand Brad's fear of snakes. He is absolutely terrified. Any time snakes are mentioned, he talks about running as fast as he can as far away as he can possibly be. He also talks about moving and leaving the furinture behind if there is one at our house. I guess you could say his worst nightmare happened yesterday. When I told him, he said he would get us a room at the Hampton Inn and we could sneak the dogs in the back door. He also asked me to call the real estate agent. Somehow I convinced him to come home, but I was on backyard duty with the dogs for the rest of the evening. Brad is convinced this is not the only snake back there - where there is one, there is many - I sure hope he is wrong!

Bachelorette/Bachelor Weekend

Justin and Christina are getting married 4 weeks!! This weekend we celebrated their last weeks of "freedom". The girls went to Nashville Friday night and had a lingerie shower Saturday night. I had a great time getting to know Christina's friends - they are all so great! I didn't get many pictures in Nashville. I figured the youngins' would take plenty and share.

The Hostesses - me, Sarah, Rachel, Alex, Stud, and Bethany - showing off the cute towel wraps Christina gave us.

While the girls were having their fun, the guys were down at our house. Yes, we had 13 guys stay at our house Friday night. Saturday night they went to Biloxi and hit the casnios. Brad had a great time spending time with Justin and all of his friends - they are all so much fun! I came home yesterday expecting my house to be a mess but it was in fabulous condition. Those guys are welcome back any time!!

Even though we were apart Brad and I had a great weekend. The next 4 weeks are going fly by for Justin and Christina and I can't wait for their wedding day!

Sweet Caroline

Last weekend we went to Huntsville for a short visit. Friday night we went to a shower for Justin and Christina (sorry, no pictures!); it was a lot of fun. Saturday we ran errands, like taking clothes Fong's to get altered and we got to meet Miss Caroline Newby! Our friends, Jennifer and Jonthan, had this sweet baby girl May 2nd. It was great getting to visit with them and meet this precious girl.

They let me hold her the whole time!

Long Overdue

Sorry to be a stranger. The past month has been busy and I have not had my camera. We have gotten to go the beach for dinner a couple of times, once to visit family (great shrimp boil, thanks Sam & Janet!), and the rest of the times just for fun. Brad has also been to Orlando and Auburn (twice) and I went to Memphis and Montgomery. While Brad was in Orlando I made quick visit to Huntsville. I wish I had my camera then because I had a great visit. The rest of our free time has been spent relaxing by the pool - I think I could get used to that! I guess that sums up our happenings.

Happy Birthday Wheeler!!

Our nephew, Wheeler, turned 10 today. Yes, 10 years old! I can not believe it. I can remember sitting in the waiting room 10 years ago right now waiting on this sweet little boy to come. I guess he isn't that little anymore since he has entered double digits!

I am out of town for training this week, but when I get back I would like to add some pictures with this post.

Happy Birthday Wheeler! We love you!

I wanted to post some pictures of when he was born, but digital cameras were not around 10 years ago. Now doesn't that make you feel old!
