On the Prowl

Monday Brad and I took Little P to her first Auburn event!  Every year coaches are allowed to go visit recruits during this time and Auburn goes all out.  Last year they went around in style by renting limos and this year was no different; they added a decked out touring RV and a fundraising pep rally.  It was a lot of fun to get out and meet the coaches.  They were all so nice!

Funny story - we show up, get Paige out of the car, carry the car seat, wander around for a little bit, talk with coaches, then realize we have the stroller in the car.  Here we had been carrying this 11 lbs baby and even heavier car seat when we could have been pushing her in the stroller.  Can you tell who the new parents are?

The atmosphere was very relaxed.  You could just walk up to a coach, ask for a picture or autograph and talk to them a little bit.  My favorite coach we talked to was the special teams coach, Jay Boulware.  He was just so friendly!  He told us about his daughter when she was Paige's age; just so nice!  I really hope AU's special teams do well this year so he keeps his job - ha!  I think Brad's favorite was probably the offensive line coach, Jeff Grimes.  Coach Grimes and a bunch of fans just stood around talking.  Brad was able to stand there and just listen to what all he had to say - he was in hog heaven listening to all the recruiting talk (as he would say, "all the intricies of creating the best offensive line").

Coach Trooper greeting a former AU player's, Antonio Coleman's, family and friends

It was very bright and somewhat warm Monday afternoon.  We tried to keep Paige in the shade but as you can see here, it was sometimes hard.

Coach Trooper and Paige.  As I have said before, Paige is not the biggest fan of others holding her.  Coach Trooper was really sweet and wanted to hold her, so we let him (although I knew the waterworks were soon to follow).  Poor Paige and poor Coach Trooper.  We promise she really does like him!

When Paige did not cooperate, we settled for a picture of me with Coach Troop
Our goal all along was to get a picture of Brad, Paige and a coach (didn't really matter which one).  Well, we tried that with Coach Boulware and he was so nice that he asked one of the other fans to take our picture so that "mom" could be included too.  How nice that he wanted a family picture!

Coach Luper, Paige and me (Coach Luper and Paige have matching hair-do's!)

The newest addition to the Auburn family, basketball coach, Tony Barbee.  He gave a little speach and it made me laugh - he basically said don't plan on winning this season and don't fire him because of it.

We can't wait for football season (maybe basketball season too!)!

It's great to be an AUBURN Tiger!!

Just for Fun

The New and Improved

Has anyone seen the latest commercials for Dominos pizza?  Apparently people complained about their pizza and they have this "new and improved" recipe.  Well, last night for dinner our small group thought we would try it.  The results -

Me: Tastes about the same.  The crust has some herbs (garlic and maybe p-cheese) on it which was good.  The crust also seemed not as tough (if that makes any sense).

Other comments - Really liked the garlic in the crust.  Sauce and cheese were nothing special.  Couldn't really taste a difference.

So, if anyone out there is wondering if the new Dominos is worth all the hype, now you know...

Houston, We Have a Problem

It has come to my attention that our sweet little girl has attachment issues.

Brad and I had already talked about this because Little P likes to cry when she is in anyone else's arms except mine.  This was confirmed yesterday when we went by my office.  All of the nice ladies wanted to hold her and Paige would have no part of it.  She would start out for a few seconds ok in some of the grandmothers' arms but then the waterworks begun and if you didn't know we were there, you did then.  After I was holding her, she would give people looks like, "don't get too close, you may take me from my momma and that is just not going to happen".  So much for the pictures I wanted to take of Paige with my co-workers - ha!

May day - we start daycare in 3 1/2 weeks!!  What are we going to do??  More importantly what is sweet little Paige going to do?  How I am going to go to work knowing she is crying non-stop?

Any ideas?

At least she looks cute in her overalls.

Treats

During my time off I am trying to get out of the house at least once a day. Our daily outings include trips to the mall, Target, grocery store, or to meet Brad or friends for a meal. My newest thing is to include a "treat" for me. This means I stop at Chic-fil-a, my favorite, or Sonic, my close 2nd. It has been so much fun getting a milkshake or strawberry limeade (of course the milkshakes do not help the waistline)!
The main reason for the post - the picture of Paige. Here is she at one of our outings. We couldn't help but get her sunglasses!

A-Day

Today was Auburn's A-Day game. While Brad and I did not go, I could not pass up an opportunity to dress Paige in her adorable AU dress. We can't wait to take her to games in the fall and let her get the full gameday experience!

On a different note, this is the same dress she came home from the hospital in - what a difference 9 weeks makes!

Warrrrr Eagle!!!

Say Yes to the Dress

Since I have been staying home I have started watching a lot more TV. I like to have it on just for the noise during the day and I like to have something to watch while feeding Little P. During my first week by myself I decided I needed to start taping a bunch of new shows ("Bang for Your Buck", "Curb Appeal: the Whole Block", "Tough as Nails", "Selling New York", and "Say Yes to the Dress") to try out, old ones would do too ("House Hunters", "House Hunters International", "Friends"), as long as I didn't have to watch commercials.

My favorite has got to be "Say Yes to the Dress". Has anyone seen this show? It a 30 min. show on TLC showing girls picking out their wedding dresses from New York City's acclaimed Kleinfelds. I love seeing all of the expensive dresses - the most expensive dress I have seen so far is $24,000 - yes, $24,000. Now, the family did not buy it for $24,000. They got the sample dress for just over $13,000. How crazy is that??? $24,000 for a wedding dress?!? Shoot, $13,000 is crazy too!!

No show comes without drama and this one has its fair share. You get to see the controlling moms, girls that bring their fiancee's (I am too traditional for this), and "rollercoaster ride" of being a consultant (2 have gotten fired - oh so exciting).

The whole thing makes me want to start saving for Paige's wedding dress right now. I would love to take her to Kleinfelds when it is time for her to get married. Yes, I am the crazy mom who has already started thinking about her daughter's wedding. In fact, I started thinking about it before she was born. When we were deciding on a name I thought about how it would look on a wedding program. If I didn't think it would look good then the name did not make the cut - ha!

I don't think either of us can resist this sweet little thing!

2 months

Paige, you are 2 months old!

  • You continue to grow like a weed! You weigh 10 lbs, 9 oz and are just over 22 inches long. According to the doctor this is smack-dab average. We love your chubby little cheeks and chubby little belly. You are wearing size 1 diapers and have grown in to 0-3 month clothes.
  • Overall you are a very happy baby. You are not a fan of Sundays (not sure why, but that is ok). You love to smile and we love to see those smiles!!
  • You still do not have much hair. The little bit you have is a darker brown on top and lighter brown in back. Your eyes are still gray/blue. I am expecting them to change because my eyes are brown and Daddy's are hazel, but with that being said, who knows what color they will be.
  • You don't mind having your diaper changed now (it was a pretty traumatic experience before, or so you thought). I think you actually enjoy it because it gives you a chance to lay on your back and kick around. You have also started grabbing on to things, especially shirt collars or my hair. I have a feeling necklaces and earrings may be next.
  • You are sleeping longer and longer throughout the night. We still don't have an exact schedule or set number of hours you are sleeping. But, you have slept 8 hours a couple of nights! Momma and Daddy thank you!
  • Some of your "first" experiences this month included - your first road trip (to Huntsville to meet Momma and Nanny's friends and family), first time to church (you did great), first trip across the bay, first time to small group Bible study, and first visit with friends (the Eckley's).
  • One of your favorite ways to be held is upright, looking over someone's shoulder standing up. You love to look around and don't want to miss anything. You normally like a little bounce while we are standing around.
  • We are starting to get out more. We try to take you out to eat at least once a week. It has gotten easier with each trip out. So far, the Mexican restaurant and Cracker Barrel are our favorites. Riding in the car started out kind of rocky but has gotten better with time. You like it when we drive fast and don't really like it when the car stops (so stop lights/signs and traffic are not our friends).

I am amazed at how much you have changed and how each day it seems like you have learned something new and have become a little more independent. We love you Little P and I can't wait to see what this month has in store!

Finding Time

I feel like my time at home with Paige is flying by! I wasn't sure how I would like staying home and I didn't know if I would actually get things done, but I have enjoyed it and have been amazed at how much I actually get done.

Now, with that being said, there are days that I get nothing done - partially my fault (when I don't want to put Paige down) and partially Paige's fault (when Paige won't let me put her down).

Here is the question - how do you find time for exercise? I had all these plans of getting on the treadmill, doing sit-ups, or going on walks and haven't found time to do any. I mean really, how hard is it to find time to do sit-ups? Right now my "exercise" mainly consists of walking and bouncing Paige around the house. Real exercise, i.e. the treadmill is going to have to happen when I go back to work (that is what lunch is for). On a happy note, I have lost most of my Paige-weight and have about 6 lbs to go.

Any suggestions for getting a little bit of exercise in our day??

Now, no post is complete without a few pictures of Paige...

Photo Shoot

One of our favorite things to do is have what we call photo shoots. That is where we pose Paige and take a lot of pictures. We normally get carried away and take way too many. Here are a few from one of the latest shoots.

Madi couldn't help but join in the fun.

Slumber Party

You could say Paige had her first slumber party a few weeks ago! Her new friend Kate came to visit. Really, our awesome friends, the Eckleys, stopped by for a visit a few weeks ago (I know, I am way behind!). They were on their way to New Orleans for a conference and stayed with us for a night on their way. They are always so sweet to visit!! Check out their blog for more details on the visit and for more pictures.

Me and their daughter, Kate. She is a sweety - I could just eat her up!!! I just love all of her hair (especially compared to our sweet little one with very little hair)!

Yes, you read that right, and no we didn't name our daughters after each other, that is just how it turned out (grandparents and greatgrandparents were involved in each of the names).

Kate, Paige and Ben.

Ben is always so sweet and is an awesome big brother to Kate!

Matt and Emily - we always love your visits and they mean so much to us! You are such special friends and we treasure your friendship. I love how we don't miss a beat even though we live 5 hours apart and don't get to see each other nearly enough! Thank you for visiting and please come back soon!

Pastries and Paige

Saturday was a special day for us. My mom organized a meet and greet for our friends and family to meet Paige. The decorations were beautiful, the food was tasty, and most important the company couldn't be beat.

Brad is a prepared daddy - please note the burp cloth in his back pocket!

Paige with her Great Grandma Joyce. Great Grandma gave Paige her first piece of jewelry and made sure her feet stayed warm by giving her sweet booties.

Me, Paige, Rebecca, Katie Lane, Emily and Kate

Rebecca, Emily and I all had our sweet little girls within 6 months of each other. Little does Paige know, but she is going to be good friends with Katie Lane and Kate!

I just love this picture. You can't tell, but Paige is looking intently at Rebecca as she speaks to her. Paige was just mezmerized - too sweet!

Thank you Momma (or Nanny, as Paige knows you) for a wonderful party!!

He is Risen

He is risen indeed! We spent Paige's first Easter in Huntsville and it was a wonderful day filled celebration for our risen Savior. This was also Paige's first time at church. She was great and slept through the entire service. I think we are ready to take her to church down here - yay!

The whole family
This day was very special to us. Sunday is normally not a good day for Paige (now and while I was pregnant with her) and today she was an angel. She had plenty of opportunities to cry and be fussy, including the 6 1/2 hour car ride, but she was perfect! You could tell the devil was not going to win this Sunday!!
