4 months!

Paige, you are 4 months old!!

*You started school this month at Christ the King. The first day was really hard on me but you loved it. There was no crying when we gave you to Ms. Angela as we left. I truly believe school is a good thing for you because you love to look around and experience new things. The other kids keep you entertained and keep you from napping because you don’t want to miss what they are doing. Your teachers are so sweet; Ms. Melissa, Ms. Heather and Ms. Anna take good care of you, along with Ms. Jude when you get your “Ms. Jude time”. You also got your first runny nose. You were a trooper and wouldn’t have even known you were sick (no fever, no fussiness, still ate and slept great). Momma and Daddy got it the cold too, I guess that is just par for the course, but no one missed a day of work or school (yay!).

*You weight 13 lbs 13 oz (60th percentile) and are 24 inches long (45th percentile). You are in 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. You now eat 5 times a day, around 36 oz. You definitely had a growth spurt this month and we joke that you about ate us out of house and home. You also tried rice cereal for the first time. We don’t do it every day, but when we do, you seem to enjoy it.  You still do not have much hair but it is slowly coming in and looks like a peach fuzz.  We can't tell what color it will be; it is a lot lighter than we thought and I am not sure if that is because there isn't much there if it really is going to be a light brown or maybe even red.

*You are just so happy. The only reason you cry is when you are hungry or tired. Your smile lights up a room and I love to hear your sweet giggle.  When we go out everyone tells us how beautiful you are and how they love your smile (of course I completely agree!).  You love to play and explore; your favorite toys are your monkey and duck. You also enjoy time in your jumperoo. You also love to watch TV. I don’t know if this is a good thing or not but it makes eating dinner a little easier. Tummy time is becoming more enjoyable for you. In fact, you started to rolling over (I am actually not sure if this is an indicator that you don’t like tummy time because you want to get off your tummy – ha!).

* You love your daddy. You get your special time with him every morning after I go to work. You and he have your special “tricks” where he is teaching you to stand up on your own. You and I have our special time together before Daddy gets home from work. Your start grinning ear to ear when you see him and hear his voice; it is just so sweet. You also love Ellie and Madi. They love giving you kisses and you sit back and let them.

Thank you for being the sweet baby you are, we love you!

Father's Day

Our Monday morning is already starting out busy and exciting.  Brad's truck has a dead battery and he wasn't able to get it out to replace it.  Before getting to work we were able to get ourselves ready, get Paige and the dogs ready, get Paige to school and get Brad's truck to the Toyota dealership.  I was only an hour late for work (made here by 7:30!) and Brad was on time (which is important since today is the first day of a new rotation and he has students).

Moving on - we celebrated Father's Day all weekend long.  Saturday we relaxed and hung out by the pool.  It was Paige's first time and she loved it!

We ate out at Bimini Bob's Saturday night and it was so good!  It reminded us of our trip to Key West as we ate conch fritters and black beans with rice; Brad had a blackened wahoo (he really liked it) and I had a hamburger with cheese, fresh pineapple, and sweet potato fries (my newest thing).  We were able to sit outside because the weather was perfect and had a great view of the bay.

Sunday we enjoyed a morning at church together.  Then Brad played golf in the afternoon and we had a yummy dinner of fried okra, mac and cheese, corn bread, cantelope with peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert.  This has got to be one of our favorite!!!  And it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.  I think this may have to become a traditional Father's Day meal!

1st Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband, Paige's daddy, Brad!!!  We love you so much!  I have been waiting to say these to words to you for a very long time, always knowing you would make such a wonderful dad.

You were first a daddy to these two girls

Then this sweet thing came along and stole your heart

Thank you, Brad, for being such a wonderful dad.  I couldn't do it without you - you make being a mom so easy.  Paige and I love you and hope your first Father's Day (to a "flesh baby") is as special to you as you are to us!!!

Mini-Vacay

We just got back from a short vacation in Destin.  Brad had a pharmacy conference so Paige and I tagged along; we seem to be doing a lot of tagging along these days.  I love making bulleted lists to organize my thoughts, so here is a recap of the trip in list form.

Why we are not staying at Sandestin again (unless someone else pays)…

1) No internet service. What hotel in this day and age does not offer internet service, even for a charge? The book said we MAY be able to get dial up.

2) The place is overpriced. The conference rate was $180 a night for a “village studio” not on the beach. This “studio’s” kitchen was the size of a dorm fridge. This was nice to have a fridge and microwave but most studios I’ve seen are larger, especially when you are paying $180. There was no view whatsoever. There were bushes outside our window. Luggage carts were hard to come by. In fact, we couldn’t find one when we first got there and had to make several trips to the car. We saw some the next day

3) The parking garage was so tight! It would have been hard to move a Honda Fit around in that thing, much less my big bus (I cannot imagine moving a Suburban around in there; I would have just given up and parked somewhere else). I ended up taking up 2 spaces every time and when I was driving I had my “spot” that made it easier to get in and out of.

4) Housekeeping took our snacks! I don’t want to accuse them of stealing but the snack bag went missing. I had a Winn Dixie sack hanging on one of the door knobs and in it there was a full coffee container, 2 boxes of breakfast bars and 2 boxes of the 100 calorie packs. When I went to get a snack Monday afternoon I couldn’t find the bag. I searched every nook and cranny in the room and it was nowhere to be found. When I tell people what happened the first thing they say is could the bag been mistaken for trash? It was nowhere near the trash can – so, in my opinion, no it shouldn’t have been mistaken for trash. Good thing there was a Starbucks right outside our room; that was breakfast for me. Also, the staff was very professional when I told them and they reimbursed us for our loss.

Why I had a great time on our mini-vacation…

1) I got to spend time with Paige and Brad!!! There is nothing better than family time! One of my favorite things to do is to ride in the car with Brad. It seems like we have some our best conversations there and we were in the car for about 4 hours total so we got some good conversation in. Paige and I also got some good time in together while Brad did the conference thing.

2) Paige and I got to go shopping! We hit up the outlet mall and found some good deals. I was able to get 8 outfits for Paige for $60. One of those was a splurge and it was $13.50. That means I got her 7 outfits for less than $7 each. I thought that was pretty good, at least for me (and I am not good at finding deals). I also got me some cute stuff – I got this really cute dress for $13 (Ross) and I got 2 cute t-shirts for $3 each (Old Navy). I also got Paige this really cute 4th of July romper. I can’t wait for her to wear it! I saw some other really cute 4th of July outfits but resisted and stuck with the one outfit (the girl already has so many things wear for this summer!).
3) I got to finish a good book! More on this in another post…

4) I didn’t have to go to work for 2 days! Need I say more?

5) We got to eat dinner with Matt! Our friend, Matt, was at the conference too so we had dinner with him Monday night. It was actually his and Emily’s anniversary. Nothing like celebrating your 7 year anniversary with your friends and their 4 month old – ha! Great food and great conversation. Matt is good to keep Brad up to speed on the latest and greatest Iphone apps and they conversation never runs dry with pharmacy talk. Emily, I missed you and Paige missed Ben and Kate!!

Cruisin'

No, we are not going on a cruise (I wish!), but these 2 are!

Justin and Christina headed off to the Caribbean on the ship out of Mobile.  They were sweet to come down early and spend some time with us.  I took off work early Wednesday and it was so fun to tell Paige and the teachers that her aunt and uncle were visiting.  While the trip was quick, we enjoyed hanging out by the pool, eating seafood and staying up too late playing a good 'ole game of Nerts (we love playing cards!).

All this cruise talk makes me want to go on a cruise!  I don't guess this will be happening since I already had my "vacation" this year...oh well, maybe next year.

3 Weeks Later

Well, a lot has been going on since I last posted with pictures.  First, I was able to get the pictures off of the camera - yay!  Let's see, I have started back to work and Paige has started school.  She has done really well with it and we are slowly finding our routine.  Paige's teachers are really sweet and I feel like they take good care of her.  I feel like I have lots to say but I think I will let the pictures do most of the talking.

We visited Huntsville over Memorial Day weekend for Brad to get his eyes checked again (20/20 in one and 20/15 in the other - wahoo!)  Paige got to meet Brad's college roommate Dustin and his family (Heather and Skyler).  She also got to meet a new friend, Kaylee.  Aren't they cute!

Trying rice cereal for the first time...

On my birthday...

Enjoying our anniversary dinner (she was an angel for us!)

Where are the Pictures?

Well, I was going to upload some pictures last night becuase I was in trouble with Nanny for not posting pictures of Paige.  I sit down at the computer and smell something funny.  Next thing you know Brad smells it too and says something is on fire.  We realize it is our camera and Brad almost burns his had unplugging the camera from the connector cable.  Turns out part of the camera melted when I plugged the connector into the computer.  Not good!

Luckily, we think we can still get the pictures off the camera.  We will save that for tomorrow!

Until then...
