Sweet Potatos

Paige tried her first real food Sunday night.  She seemed to really enjoy it and kept wanting more.

Before she even took her first bite she was wanting to help.  This is how she was the rest of the time, reaching out wanting more.

Her first bite

She wasn't really sure what to make of the first bite. (Please excuse our dinner in the background.  Brad grilled us so yummy fish - one of my favorites!)

"More please!"

"Mom, what are you doing with those leftovers?  I really would like to finish those now."

Life with 3 Kids

We got a small glimpse of what life would be like with 3 kids Saturday night!  I am not sure that we want 3 kids but we still had fun with these 3.  Myles and Ella came over for a little bit while their parents enjoyed an evening out celebrating Matt's dad's birthday.

All 3 kids were so good!!  We ate pizza, watched cartoons, and just hung out.  While Brad spent some guy time playing with Myles, the girls made cookies.  Ella was a great help with the bake and break cookies and we enjoyed watching them bake and picking out which one Ella was going to eat.  While "making" them we snuck in a little cookie dough - a girl after my own heart!  I wish I had taken more pictures but there just wasn't time, we were too busy enjoying each moment.  Plus, the adventure Matt had planned for his parents got cancelled because of the rain.

I have been wanting to get a picture of me, Ella and Paige because anytime Ella and I have our picture taken, people think she is mine.  Now, I actually I have a child of my own.  Does Ella still look like she belongs to me?  Does she look more like me than Paige?  From looking at this picture, I am not sure either child belong to me.

Other highlights of the weekend include an afternoon party at one of my co-worker's house in way West Mobile (like I got off at Exit 4, that means she is 4 miles from the Mississippi boarder).  Paige also stayed in the nursery at church for the first time.  Brad and I both agreed it was time for her to do this after the last time when Brad missed almost the entire service because Miss P did not want to sit still.   We kept waiting for her name to appear on the bottom of the screen (The parents of Paige Wright are needed in the nursery), but they never did and she did great!  Sunday afternoon was filled with running errands.  She was an angel through all 3 stops and even did great with our 10 min. pit stop at home.  I think I have me a new shopping buddy!

5 months!

Paige, you are 5 months old!

This month has flown by and I might say that this has been the quickest one yet.  I guess the old saying about time flying when you're having fun is true!

We are slowly developing a routine at night.  We normally come home, play and/or eat.  Then around 7 you start to get tired and fall asleep.  This normally lasts around an hour or so and you wakes up.  We get you ready for bed, feed you your last bottle and you are out until the next morning (which is between 6:30 and 7).  If we are out or around others you stay awake longer and just want to be apart of the group; you are so easy going like that!

You rolled from back to tummy for the first time this month.  You also love scooting around on your back.  In fact, just this past weekend we watched you make a complete circle around in your little floor gym.  A game you like to play is "take the paci out and try to get it back in".  Everything now belongs in your mouth and you are starting to grab at everything (the remote, Momma's coke, hair earrings, Daddy's nose, cheek, chin), you name it, you want it.  You have also started petting Ellie and Madi.  They are both so sweet to let you do it and you are very sweet to them.

You eat between 35 and 40 oz a day.  I would say that you have somewhat slown down over the past month but you still love to eat.  You typically eat 4 8 oz bottles and finish the day with a 6 oz formula bottle.  This all really just depends on the day and we let you do whatever you want.  You enjoy eating your rice cereal and would feed yourself if you could.

You love water - bath time is still fun and you have enjoyed the pool (but who doesn't!).  Your hair has taken off growing this month.  It may not look like it in the pictures but it really has.  We can't decide what color it is going to be.  It can look light brown, dark brown, or red depending on the light.  I am starting to think you are going to have curly/wavy hair.  I noticed a little piece was starting to curl last night.  Poor thing if you have hair like mine, maybe you will have the curl without the frizz.  I still can't figure out your eye color.  Everyone tells me, "what pretty blue eyes," but I don't think they are blue.  Someone told me yesterday they looked green, so maybe they are green.

According to the Wii, because it is so official you know, you weigh just under 16 lbs.  Still growing great!

One more month until you are half a year old!

Baby Burrito

Not much going on in the Wright household this week but I wanted to share these 2 pictures.

Here is Paige all snuggled up on her first night at home.  She slept swaddled like a baby burrito for the longest time and in just the past few weeks she was promoted.  Now she is free...

Most mornings we find her turned around in her crib all sprawled out.

I think it is too cute and just had to share!

4th of July Fun

Our 4th of July weekend was nice and relaxing.  Nana and Papa Joe came down to visit and we had a great time hanging out.  Friday they watched Paige for us while we worked.  We both got off a little early and were glad because the traffic coming across the bay is bad around the 4th.  We ventured out for dinner to a local place, East Shore Cafe.  Brad and I both really enjoy this place - they have yummy breakfast and dinner and each visit creates a special memory for us.

Saturday we ate breakfast at one of our favorite breakfast spots, A Spot of Tea in downtown Mobile.  They have great breakfast and lunch here - the strawberry tea is must have when you go for lunch!

We spent the afternoon in the pool.  Paige even joined us for a little bit!  She loved being the water, kicking her little legs around.  We grilled out that evening and Matt, Jamie, Ella and Myles joined.  I love it when family gets together like that!  That is one of the things I miss about being in Huntsville.

We spent a good part of Sunday outside, but don't worry Ellie and Madi stayed cool inside.

We ventured down the Orange Beach Sunday evening for dinner and fireworks.  We were going to eat at Cotton's but they were closed.  I am not really sure why - could be an every Sunday thing or every holiday thing - who knows.  I hope they are not closed for good.  We ate at Docs instead.  It was great as usual.  It did make me a little sad though.  2 years ago we ate there on the 4th of July and had at least an hour long wait.  This year we walked on in and didn't have to wait.  Last year we found a great spot to watch the fireworks on the beach, so we headed back to that same spot.  We were not as lucky this year because there was a brief downpour in what felt like just our little spot about 5 mintues before the fireworks were scheduled to start.  Needless to say we were all soaked.  Well, all except Paige.  Nana had covered her up before heading to the beach and it was that towel that kept Paige dry (and it was the one dry spot on Nana).

Nana and Papa Joe had to leave on Monday, but Paige is ready for them to come back!

Need Your Help

The Kids to Love Foundation needs your help!

Lee Marshall, the founder of the foundation, is one of the 2010 Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame finalists.  You can vote for her here: http://www.energizerkeepgoinghalloffame.com/2010Finalists.aspx?finalists=LeeMarshall&t=sm_leeMarshall.jpg&fn=Lee&ln=Marshall&r=634140149496125034.  The voting goes on until August 20th and you can vote once a day.  The winning person gets $15,000 and it will all go to the Foundation.  I bookmarked the website in my favorites so I would remember to do it everyday.

Also, for all you Facebookers, the foundation is up for another award that you can vote through Facebook.  It is Chase Community Giving.  You can find info. by going to Lee's Facebook page or by searching on 'Chase Community Giving' (that is probably the easiest way).  This one ends July 12th and you can vote once a day.  The top 200 charities get $25,000 - how awesome is that!!

The Kids to Love Foundation is so special to us.  It is one of the things I miss most about Huntsville.  Brad and I loved to volunteer, especially at Christmas time when they had their Christmas for the Kids.  Imagine how many Christmas gifts you could buy with $40,000!  Or the scholarships they could provide.  Or the school supplies they could provide to the entire state of Alabama.  This is an amazing organization and they deserve to win both of these awards!

Paige says, Vote for the Kids to Love Foundation!

Bang for Your Buck

Check it out - Auburn ranks #1 in the state, #208 nationally, as the best education value, and UAH is #2 in the state. A special thanks to my parents, and Brad's too, for our great educations!
